Who can apply?
The employer, sponsor, or an authorised employment agent (EA) can apply for a work permit for your domestic helper.
Processing time
- FDW eService: Typically within 1 week unless additional information is required.
- Application Form: Generally processed within 3 weeks for most cases.
Applying for an FDW In Principle Approval (IPA) via FDW eService
- Processing Time: Typically within 1 week. Some cases take longer.
- Required Information:
- Helper’s passport details
- Your and your family members’ particulars
- Your income information
Application Steps:
- Obtain written consent from the helper.
- Log in to FDW eService and fill out the application.
- Pay $35 per application via VISA, MasterCard, or eNets Debit.
- Check the application status after 1 week.
- Wait for the email with the approval.
Applying for an FDW In Principle Approval (IPA) with an Application Form
- Processing Time: Typically within 3 weeks. Some cases take longer.
Application Steps:
- Obtain written consent from the helper.
- Download and complete the Work Permit application form.
- Pay the $35 fee via PayNow or FAST.
- Submit the application form online along with supporting documents.
- Wait for the email with the approval.
If Your IPA Is Approved
You and your helper must sign the IPA and Declaration Forms. Then, you should send the IPA to your maid as she needs it to enter Singapore. Be sure that IPA information matches her passport details.
To Get the Work Permit Issued
Application Steps:
- To request a Work Permit, log in to the Ministry of Manpower's website.
- Provide a home or office address for card delivery and nominate up to 3 authorised recipients to receive the card. For each recipient, provide their NRIC, FIN or passport number, mobile numbers, and email address.
- The application fee is $35, payable by VISA, MasterCard or eNets for each Work Permit issued.
- Once the Work Permit is issued, you should print the Temporary Work Permit, which is valid for 1 month. This temporary permit must be given to your helper while waiting for the Work Permit card.
To Get the Work Permit
Your helper's Work Permit card will be delivered to the provided address within 5 working days after registering and verifying her documents. If registration is not needed, the card will arrive within 5 working days. The authorised recipients will receive an email or SMS with the delivery details at least 1 working day before the delivery.
If Work Permit Card Delivery Fails
After two unsuccessful delivery attempts, collect the card at MOM Services Centre – Hall C. Bring the original passport and Temporary Work Permit. An authorised representative can also collect it on your behalf with an authorisation letter and their NRIC or passport for verification.
